Are you finding it challenging to overcome obstacles? Can you persevere during times of trial and difficulty? Almost every instance of leadership that pushes us toward progress involves change. Unfortunately, we have been trained to fear change, to look at it as a negative. Utilizing John Kotter’s book Our Iceberg is Melting, we’ll explore the 8 steps leaders can take to successfully lead change.  Today’s leader needs to be courageous when it comes to change—looking for ways to take advantage of opportunities that present themselves. 

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

·        View change in a positive context and address it constructively

·        Forecast potential change and the effect it may have on you and your organization

·        Develop contingency plans to be proactive about future change and the opportunities it presents

·        Lead your team with change initiatives in place and communicate courageously in times of change


 Facilitator: Dee Oviatt 

Dee is a learning and development professional with more than 30 years of experience contributing in a variety of industries, including computers, consumer products, defense, financial services, and agriculture. Prior to joining ATW, he spent 20 years with DuPont Pioneer providing training services and solutions in locations across the globe.

 In every industry and company where he has worked, Dee’s consistent focus has been to provide people with skills enabling them to contribute at a high level, achieve results, work effectively with others, and experience career success. His primary areas of emphasis have been leader and manager skills development, performance management, team building, difficult conversations and conflict resolution, coaching/mentoring, change management, personal productivity, and communication/interpersonal effectiveness. Dee’s goal is to help create the kind of companies at which he would want his children to work.

 Dee holds a Master’s degree in Organizational Behavior from Brigham Young University. He was an adjunct instructor at Upper Iowa University for graduate level coursework on organizational development. He is active in the local chapter of ATD and for several years served on the board. His professional certifications include GPHR and SHRM-SCP.
